DAVID NASH

Born 1945, Esher, Surrey, England; lives in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales

David Nash works primarily as a sculptor and environmental artist, but his graphic works exercise the same raw, bold, natural forms as his three-dimensional works. Born in Surrey, England, he lives and works in Wales. Nash studied art at the Kingston College of Art and at the Chelsea School of Art. He has achieved an international reputation for his bold use of geometric yet organic forms that fit into the nature where they are usually sited. His ritualistic and conscious approach to art – both in his sculpture and graphic works – gives his work a distinct calmness that speaks equally to intellect and spirit. His work can be found at the Tate Gallery, London, the National Museums and Galleries of Wales, the Kroner-Muller Museum, the Netherlands, and in collections throughout Europe and the U.S. In 2004, he was awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his distinguished services to the arts.
